Meet Cheryl
Recovery Coach | Member, Recovery Coaches Canada (RCC) | Child & Youth Worker (CYW)
I'm Cheryl McIntyre, founder of Birch Wellness Recovery. Welcome.
I support individuals who are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or navigating recovery, grief, trauma, and life's many transitions. Through my own recovery journey, I've come to know that every person has strengths, resilience, and wisdom within them. Sometimes we simply need support and encouragement to rediscover those qualities.
Why I Became a Recovery Coach
My journey into recovery coaching began with my own recovery and the understanding that healing is possible.
After experiencing trauma, loss, grief, and substance use, I reached a point where I felt disconnected from myself and my life. Recovery changed that.
As I found my own path to healing and sobriety, I discovered a deep passion for supporting others who may feel overwhelmed, hopeless, or unsure of their next steps. Birch Wellness Recovery was born from that experience and the belief that recovery is always possible.
Recovery Coach Training
I completed my Recovery Coach training through Still Here and have continued my learning through advanced coursework, including Elements, Mastery, and Ethics training. I believe the best support comes from combining lived experience with professional training, and I'm committed to lifelong learning so I can continue providing the best possible support to the people I work with.
Professional Experience
Alongside my lived experience, I bring more than 30 years of experience as a Child and Youth Worker (CYW), supporting children, youth, adults, and families through trauma, mental health challenges, substance use, family conflict, and life transitions.
My approach is rooted in compassion, connection, accountability, and hope.
My Coaching Philosophy
Recovery coaching is built on partnership, accountability, and hope. Together, we explore what recovery means to you and create a path that feels realistic, meaningful, and sustainable.
I believe every person possesses strengths, resilience, and wisdom, and that lasting change happens through connection, compassion, and support free from judgement.
Walking Forward Together
As a proud member of Nipissing First Nation, I value approaches to healing that honour connection, culture, lived experience, and personal strengths.
Whether you are taking your first steps toward change or continuing your recovery journey, you will be met with compassion, respect, and support free from judgement.
Recovery is possible.
No matter where you are on your journey, I’d be honoured to walk alongside you.
